Overview SkyBoxer was made to act with Terragen for creating sky-box images for use with many popular 3D games and programs. Rendering When you are ready to render your images in Terragen, start up SkyBoxer. Get your settings how you want them and click the "Start" button. Skyboxer will now create a custom script and wait for Terragen to finish it's rendering. Go back into Terragen and execute the "SkyBoxer.tgs" script.
Some things of note.
Because Terragen automatically numbers it's images based on what is in the script folder, you should always clear out the script folder.
If SkyBoxer is installed correctly and Terragen is in it's default folder, this folder is: The reason for this is that if an image is already in the folder called "SkyBoxer_002.bmp" and you start a render, then Terragen will number the 2nd image as "SkyBoxer_003.bmp" and 3 is not 2. So everything will be out of whack. Remember to keep this folder clean! When Terragen is finished rendering all the images in the script, SkyBoxer will then handle renaming, converting and moving the images to the Output Path. Output Output determines the final name and location of the rendered images. The output field should have a full path and partial filename. The path with be created if it does not exist.
For example:
This will store the rendered images in the path:
And each image will be named (depending on Name Scheme settings): Skybox Settings Camera height determines how high the camera is. This is not a fixed height above ground, but an absolute height. The checkboxes determine which images will be rendered. To skip an images, just uncheck it. Terragen Landscape These settings are very important, but usually do not need to be changed. They only need to be change if you change the landscape size in Terragen. It is important to note, that as of this writting terragen did not update it's Landscape Size window correctly. So if you change the size from 257 to 1025 (for example) the Landscape Area will not update. You need to click OK to get out of the window and then go back into the window to get the correct Landscape Area values. Name Scheme Here you can have the rendered images automatically renamed to a more friendly name. By default the images are simply numbered 001, 002, 003 and so on. This is what you will get with this set to As-Is - Numberical. Compass will change the numbers into North, South, East and so on. Direction will change the number into Front, Back, Left and so on. The Abreviate Names checkbox is only used for Compass and Direction. It will use only the first character of the name like North = N, Front = F and so on. Convert Images By default the rendered images are in BMP format. Most 3D games can't use BMP format. So you can automatically convert the images to either TGA or JPG format. The JPG format also has a slider for adjusting the Compression versus Quality of the JPG. Higher values (slider to the right) makes for a better quality image with less compression. Lower values (slider to the left) makes for better compression with less quality of image.
